The IRS posted on June 2, 2014 the first list
of about 77,000 foreign financial institutions around the world that have
registered to comply with the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act which were approved as of May 23,
2014. The list is searchable by GIIN or Financial Institution Name. The list is located on the FATCA Website. Use the Search and Download Tool to find out if a Foreign Financial Institution (FFI) has registered. Download an entire list of Financial Institutions or search for a specific Financial Institution. FATCA requires FFIs to register with the Internal Revenue Service to report their U.S. owned accounts or be subject to a 30 percent withholding tax on their U.S. source income. The July 1 deadline for beginning FATCA reporting is next month.
